27th June 2009: Offaly Juvenile Strokeplay
Friday last saw the up and coming talent of the game take centre stage as the Offaly Juvenile Strokeplay took place in perfect conditions in Ferbane. As well as the County strokeplay at stake it was the deciding final trial in the race for the Juvenile Inter-County team. The event was highly competitive in both the boys 10-13 grade and the 14-16 grade. In the 10-13 grade only 1 shot seperated the top two leading scorers as Damian Fleming took first ahead of David Newman. In contrast the 14-16 grade was dominated by local and favourite for the title Brian Doyle. Brian put in a terrific performances shooting rounds of 5 and 6 under par for an aggregate score of 97, he won by four shots from his nearest challenger Dillon Mellia who shot a fantastic second round of 8 under par.
Special thanks to our sponsor for the event Mr. Dermot Kenny, Clara, for his generous support.
