Leinster Mixed Foursomes Finals
Erry Pitch & Putt Club played host to the Leinster Mixed Foursomes on Sunday last, August 28th, and it was two local players who took full advantage of their local knowledge to claim the title. Local pairing of Tracey and Joseph McGrath Jnr. posted an early score in the morning session of +13 in the V-Par event to set an early target. As the day went on the closest contenders were Kildare's Mairead O'Toole and David Coogan who finished on +11 and another Erry pairing of Linda Flanagan and Johnny Scully finished well on +10. By the end of the afternoon session the McGraths held out to remain the top scorers, which was a fine performance bearing in mind that they were playing of a scratch handicap. They set a new record in accepting the title, which they lost last year, for an impressive fourth time. The four wins also came in just the last five years. Congratulations to Tracey and Joseph on such a great achievement.

Well done to all the prize winners and all who took part and made the event a very memorable and successful occasion for the Erry Pitch & Putt Club who had their course in splendid playing condition.

Results: Regional Qualifying Rounds National Mixed Foursomes held at Erry, August 30th - +9 Tracey & Joseph McGrath Jnr. (Erry) and +6 Lauren & Gary Pyke (Tullamore). The qualifiers go through to the National Finals at Fermoy on Sunday September 25th. Regional Qualifying Rounds National Senior Strokeplay held at Tullamore, August 31t - Senior Gents: Patsy Reams, Billy Buckley Snr., JJ Wynne & Tommy Murphy. Inter Gents: Joe McGrath Snr. Junior Gents: Mick Kenny & Denis Carter. The qualifiers go through to the National Senior Strokeplay Finals at Cement (Louth) on Sunday September 18th. We wish all competitors the very best of luck.

Fixtures: We would like extend our good wishes to the Ladies & Gents Offaly Inter-County Teams who take part in the National Inter-County Finals next weekend in Portmarnock Pitch & Putt Club. The Ladies team is Tracey McGrath, Ann-Marie McCabe, Una Pyke, Denise Pyke, Linda Flanagan, Geraldine Ryan & Eileen Guerin (sub). The Gents team is William Buckley Jnr., Joe McGrath Jnr., Graham Newman, Larry Maher Jnr., Mark Hogan, Darren O'Connell & Mick Hogan (sub).
