Offaly Juvenile Strokeplay Championship 2011, Friday July 1st
The juveniles were out in force on Friday evening last as they competed for honours in the Offaly Juvenile Strokeplay Finals at Erry and also a position on the Offaly Inter-County Team. It was Erry's David Newman who took the title is commanding fashion with a 36 hole total of 8 under par, which was even more impressive given the firm greens in lovely weather. David claimed the title by 6 shots from his closet rival, his younger brother Mark who was 2 under par.

The other prize winners on the day were as follows:
Boys 14-16 Winner Peter Fox 109, Runner-Up Owen Martin 129
Boys 10-13 Winner Mark Newman 106, Runner-Up Josh Fleming 110
Girls Winner was Amy Galvin 122

Arising from the scoring at the championship the following players made the Offaly Juvenile Inter-County Team for 2011: David Newman, Peter Fox, Mark Newman, Josh Fleming, J. Carroll and Amy Galvin.

National Ladies Strokeplay Finals take place at Ring Commons Pitch & Putt Club, Dublin, over next weekend July 9th - 10th. We wish all our Offaly representatives the very best of luck.
The Ferbane Open Scotch Foursomes takes place from July 8th - 10th while the Offaly Matchplay Championships will tee-off in Ferbane on Monday July 11th, the finals will take place from Monday to Wednesday, further details and draws can be found in your local clubhouse.
The annual Offaly Masters takes place on Sunday July 17th and it is once again proudly sponsored by Niall Martin, Martin's Golf Athlone. The event will be played in a Scratch Cup format and it is open to all registered PPUI members. Play commences at 9am and the last card is at 2pm with the playoff to commence around 5pm. All are very welcome!
