As we welcome the re-launch of the PPUI's Official Backspin Magazine in 2009 we thought that this would be a great opportunity to bring you some of the original articles and reports that made the original Backpsin Magazine such a hit in the Pitch & Putt community.

This will be a welcomed insight especially for those who have not had the pleasure of experiencing the Backspin of old. We hope that you will enjoy reading the chosen articles taken from past Backspins. They will include articles focusing on our Offaly players and also on past/present champions of the game and especially those individuals who stamped their mark on the game forever.

A chance for players and spectators to relive some of the most memorable and impressive performances witnessed!!

Backspins of the Past

The December 2002 issue of Backspin is the second in our installments of issues that we will take a look at. It focuses on a fine Munster clean sweep at the National Strokeplay and Matchplay Championship finals on home Munster soil at E.S.B. and Hillview respectively. The issue also focuses on two familiar and dedicated names in Pitch & Putt Maree O'Toole and the stalwart that was Willie Parker, who sowed the seeds in the development of Pitch & Putt Internationally.

The first Backspin we will take a glance at is the December 2003 issue in which Darren O'Reilly and William Buckley Jnr.'s National title victoires are documented. It is also fitting that we take a look at an article on the current 2008 National Gents Strokeplay winner which focuces on the fine year he had in 2003 when he just fell short of that illusive National Strokeplay in a 9 hole playoff.
